Owner and President of Apex Contracting, Brent started Apex in November, 1990. He has fed and watered Apex with satisfied return customers, growing it from a small interior renovations contractor, to a well known full service commercial builder.
Brent is the Construction Manager at Apex, handling business development, and overseeing all projects to completion. He is extremely detail oriented, and focused on providing a flawless finished product, without exception.
Brent takes particular interest in the project closeout procedures of all Apex projects. He regularly puts on his coveralls, and heads out to jobsites. Here, he lends a hand for any task going on, from carpentry to final cleaning.
Beware; if Brent hears you've made a mess, be prepared to get a earful.
As an owner, the Senior Project Manager, and the Senior Construction Estimator at Apex, Graham is a major point in the communications path, through which most information travels. He has over 12 years experience in general contracting and project management. Graham's knowledge of commercial construction and estimating, make him one of the most integral links in the Apex chain. Whatever information you are looking for, whether a firm bid, a budget or just some quick numbers, chances are you’ll get what you need, by just asking Graham.
Larry is an owner at Apex, as well as a full time site superintendent. He has been with Apex since 2000. Larry has handled various projects: from standalone buildings to large-scale commercial building additions, to light duty industrial buildings. With vast experience in rough and finish carpentry, lumber is Larry’s second language.
Larry can be found on-site doing just about anything, from finishing concrete; to installing doors, frames, and hardware; to building temporary bracing; to, well, downing a coffee for a quick energy boost.
When he's not on-site, you might find Larry flying down the highway on his customized Hayabusa; he’s always ahead of the crowd.
From Apex’s humble beginnings, Vlad has been, and continues to be, an integral part of Apex. He is one of Apex's most experienced site superintendents. Vlad is a high-energy, hands-on superintendent, who you’ll be hard pressed to find in the office, or even standing still, for that matter.
With first-hand construction experience in all kinds of projects, there is hardly a task that Vlad isn't willing or able to take on. He is a site superintendent who is proficient at getting things done quickly, while maintaining an immaculate level of quality…meaning that all clients love him, but those who work under him sometimes don’t.
One of Apex’s newer superintendents, John has been with the company since 2007. He has been working in the construction field for the past 40 years, and has significant experience in millwork, interior finishes, conveying systems, concrete foundations and rough carpentry.
There is never a situation from which John can’t steer you in the right direction. Having moved here from the east coast, you will be treated to his abundant humor, and very big smile.
Bill is a construction superintendent comfortable with all types of building systems and construction. He is particularly skilled with glass and glazing systems. Bill entered the world of construction in 1978, in a glass plant. He later moved on to work for a glazing company specializing in high rises, and eventually started his own company.
In the early 1990's, Bill began working as a construction superintendent, and has been doing so ever since. After maintaining a healthy construction relationship with Bill for ten years, Apex acquired him in 2009, when a well-known Edmonton based construction company closed its doors.
In his spare time, Bill likes to play league hockey. His easy humor keeps him very young at heart.
The youngest looking superintendent at Apex, Ian is a fountain of construction wisdom and skill. Nobody on earth has more energy. After working with Apex since 1999, first as a labourer, then as a carpenter, Ian had been running his own projects for the past four years.
Already proficient with carpentry, foundation layout, construction scheduling, structural steel, site organization, and team leadership, Ian has become an indispensable member of Apex’s site team. We dare you to try and keep up.
Dan is an Apex site superintendent, who migrated over, with the closing of an Edmonton based general construction company. He is a specialist in many areas of construction, from earthwork to finishes.
Dan is a practiced superintendent, with a profound gift for problem solving. He maintains a level head, which is an absolute necessity in our line of work. One of his recent projects includes a large addition to a food processing plant in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
Dan is a motorcycle and 4x4 enthusiast. He likes to be found on the side of a mountain, up to his neck in mud.
Shannon handles almost everything regarding accounts payable and receivable, at Apex. She is also an employed registered nurse, and a mother of two. So, if you can catch her on her two seconds of spare time a week, you would have to be pretty lucky.
And remember, Shannon cuts the cheques, so it would be a good idea to be ‘oh, so nice’ to her!
Ben is one of Apex's construction superintendents, with a natural gift for coordination. He recently completed the renovation of a high traffic Tim Hortons/Wendy's location in the heart of Downtown Edmonton. This renovation included a parking lot expansion, while maintaining a functioning drive-thru.
Extremely well versed in the language of lumber, Ben is an exceptional carpenter. He has experience in many other aspects of construction, including concrete forming, and interior finish work.
In his spare time, Ben enjoys traveling. He has been off the continent numerous times. Ask him about it, and I'm sure he’ll be able to share an interesting story or two.
Justin began working at Apex in May 2009, after his graduation from the Construction Engineering Technology program at NAIT. In the office 90 percent of the time, Justin puts together tenders for construction projects. He also handles a fair bit of the construction scheduling and coordination work, at Apex.
Justin is responsible for the review of newly received bid documents, issuance of tender invites and the review of subcontractor scope alignment for tenders. He also handles any ongoing requests from the superintendents and owners.
Justin can be a pretty busy guy, but never hesitates to add a new item to the list of things to do.
